HERITAGE

A journey of discovery that began in the late 1970s in the South of India with Mr Baskaran, who started out as a technician at leather factories. His passion and curiosity for leather manufacturing and aesthetic designs led him to start his own company in 1991 and thus, the BBK group was formed. 

Mr Baskaran started out in the industry by building relationships and business with other factories before he started out on his own. A simple dream that started out in a small space with no facilities in 1991, is now a fully functioning leather enterprise that comprises of tanneries, a shoe factory and a bag manufacturing unit.

BBK Group is a family-owned business with a passion for leather, footwear and leather goods manufacturing. 

Our first tannery, Ram Leathers was founded in 1994 and then Mr. Baskaran expanded to establish two upper factories by 1998. By the end of 2002, BBK group delved into shoe making and by 2014, a second tannery was established. 

Alongside, other developments, like setting up a PU transfer coating plant were established in 2016 and a formal leather goods division was established in 2018. 

Under the leadership of Mr. Baskaran, his two sons Barath and Ram, after having completed their education at reputed universities in Europe, have joined their father in managing this prestigious enterprise. 

By pairing the luxurious texture of leather with intricate design and detailed craftsmanship, we’re able to achieve finished goods that hold a light to creativity and innovation. Apart from skilled craftsmanship, we believe in the power and metamorphosis that technology can bring about. As times keep changing, we find ourselves wanting to learn and adapt. We’re always finding ways to marry our creativity and curiosity with technological advancements and this helps us produce for brands all over the world. 

Our technological prowess is up-to-date and we are on the constant lookout for ways to improve. With rising technological advancements, we also understand our responsibility towards bettering our environment. Our approach to sustainability has always been transparent. Various practices to reduce waste (water, chemical, raw materials) have been implemented and kept updated. We are also big proponents of circular energy and are very cognizant of our energy consumption and have implemented ways to preserve them for present and future generations.
